Fun fact: I work in a lab with an XRF spectrometer (used to analyze the exact chemical make-up of all things metal, or at least that's what we use it for) and for kicks and giggles I decided to analyze my new ring to see if it really was .925 silver. Not that I necessarily didn't believe that it was, it's just that people can say anything they want on the internet, you know? Also, when you've got a cool lab instrument that will tell you exactly what metals are in your ring, how do you pass that up? Well, I was quite pleased to find that, according to the XRF spectrometer, my ring is actually 92.73% silver so thanks Silverly for that extra 0.23% silver. If you're wondering about what exactly the rest of it is, it's 0.06% chromium, 0.79% iron, 0.11% nickel, 5.24% copper, 0.03% zinc, and 0.83% indium. Now, if you're one of THOSE people, you might have calculated that those percentages only add up 99.79%, to which I say good on you, sir or madam, for having an inquiring mind, and to which I also say, as with everything in science, there's always a margin of error. Also, full disclosure, I don't quite understand the XRF spectrometer well enough to know everything about how it works. It's new to our lab. Anyway, all you really need to know is that your ring is definitely at least .925 silver. Also it's very pretty and fun to play with. The only downside is that my tiny baby finger needed a size 5 and the smallest size they had was a size 6, but it's still wearable so that's all that matters.
